Hymn 360
Cello and Organ.
Hymn 360 is the first of the four hymns, the initial version for voice and organ was composed back in 1984. I was never quite happy with it, but the original theme is fascinating and beautiful. After a new revision in 2012 for cello and organ, the piece has finally, with the 2018 revision, found the expression I have been searching for.
After a short introduction, the expressive melody, with a marked and daring rhythmical energy, is presented by the cello. The short (due to the text) repetition of the first phrase is played by the organ, and the cello completes the first presentation of this fine theme. |
